Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall consisting of a white helmet detailed gold facing left in front of a gold garb palewise throughout all in front of a blue globe gridlined gold and enclosed except for the top by a gold scroll with three folds doubled and inscribed in red "SERVING THE MOST DESERVING."

Symbolism
The helmet represents military personnel and the Agency's mission of clothing the Soldier through troop issue and clothing sales.  The bundle of wheat (staff of life) symbolizes the food program activities.  The Agency's worldwide mission is represented by the globe.  The colors are traditionally associated with logistics and transportation activities.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 15 March 1985.
